What is a digital certificate?
The SSL (Secure Socket Layer) is a security protocol developed by the company Netscape Communications to ensure that the transmission of data between a server and a user, or vice versa, over the Internet, is completely secure. The SSL is an open protocol, which means that it can be used by any Internet applications manufacturer, with one of its greatest advantages being that it can be used with any of the Internet services (WWW, FTP, news, mail...), although it is normally used for WWW traffic.
